北京大学新英格兰校友会2020年选举
北京大学新英格兰校友会(以下简称校友会)正在进行换届选举,选出的新一任会长任期将持续到2022年5月。以下为选举程序。
一、对候选人的要求
会长候选人必须同时满足以下条件:
1、校友会成员;
2、在校友会执行团队任职至少一年;
3、认同并遵守校友会章程(https://www.pkuaa-ne.org/bylaws);
4、可任职至2022年5月。
二、对投票人的要求
投票人应满足以下条件:
1、北京大学校友(曾以注册学生身份就读北京大学,或曾为北京大学教职员工);
2、目前在新英格兰地区(包括马萨诸塞州、罗德岛州、康涅狄格州、新罕布什尔州、佛蒙特州、缅因州)学习、工作和生活;
3、校友会成员。
三、选举程序和时间表
1、2020年8月23日:参选申报截止日。
所有参加竞选的候选人须在2020年8月23日午夜之前将竞选宣言(中文500字以内)及一张近照提交到pkuaa.ne.election@gmail.com。竞选宣言应包括:
1)候选人自我介绍,如在北大就读的年级、院系和学位,来美及来新英格兰地区的年份,目前的学校或工作单位等;
2)在校友会及其它组织任职的经历和成绩;
3)竞选校友会会长的原因,承诺将严格遵守校友会章程,保护校友会及其章程的完整性,并保证可任职到2022年5月;
4)对校友会未来两年的愿景和规划。
2、2020年8月24—31日:选举委员会审查确认候选人资格。
3、2020年9月1日:在校友会网站www.pkuaa-ne.org上公布所有候选人的竞选宣言和照片。
4、2020年9月1—15日:竞选阶段,候选人回答投票人提出的问题,在网上与投票人交流。
5、2020年9月16—23日(截至午夜):投票阶段,投票人在线上投票,选举下任会长。
校友会所有成员均可在校友会网站www.pkuaa-ne.org注册投票。在此期间,为了让投票人熟悉候选人、在投票人和候选人之间形成互动交流,投票人可以在校友会微信群向候选人提问(将指定一些时间段用来提问),问题可以是投票人关心的任何内容。候选人应尽其所能、诚心诚意回答问题,所有投票人在投票前均可阅读所有问题和回答。在此期间,我们鼓励候选人积极竞选、回答问题、回应关切、帮助投票人更好地了解自己。投票将于2020年9月23日午夜结束。投票仅有一轮,票数最高的候选人将当选下一任会长。如果出现最高票数相等的情况,相应候选人将成为联席会长。选举结果将在今年秋季的校友会年会上公布。

The Peking University Alumni Association of New England will hold an election this year to elect the next president of our association. The Following document describes the election rules and procedures.
Democracy is one of our Alma Mater's proud traditions. We encourage talented, enthusiastic, energetic, and experienced alumni to run for the president. This is a great opportunity to serve our association and fellow alumni. We also welcome all PKUAA-NE members to participate in this democratic process by campaigning and voting for your favored candidate!

Peking University Alumni Association of New England Election 2020
The Peking University Alumni Association of New England is holding an election to elect the next president of the association, who will serve until May 2022. Following are the election procedures.
I. Candidates: A candidate for the president must be:
1. A member of the Peking University Alumni Association of New England; and
2. Having actively served in the PKUAA-NE executive team for at least one year; and
3. Recognizes and agrees with the association bylaws ; and
4. Being able to serve until May 2022.
II. Voters: Voters should be:
1. Peking University Alumni (studied as registered students, or worked as faculty or staff in Peking University); and
2. Currently studying, working or living in one of the six New England States (MA, RI, CT, NH, VT, ME); and
3. Members of Peking University Alumni Association of New England.
III. Election Procedures and Important Dates:
1.August 23, 2020: Candidacy declaration deadline.
All the candidates running for the president must declare their candidacy by submitting a statement (in Chinese, no more than 500 words) with a recent photo to by midnight 8/23/2020. The statement should include:
a. Candidate's self introduction, such as the class, school/dept and degree from PKU, years came to the US and New England and current school/work position.
b. Experience and accomplishment serving the PKUAA-NE and other organizations.
c. The reason to run for the president of PKUAA-NE, promising to recognize and protect the integrity of PKUAA-NE and her bylaws, and to serve until May 2022 if elected.
d. Vision and plans for the PKUAA-NE in the next two years.
2.August 24 - 31, 2020: The election committee reviews and confirms the eligibility of the candidates.
3.September 1, 2020: All candidates' statements and pictures will be posted on www.pkuaa-ne.org website.
4.September 1 - 15, 2020, Campaign period: Candidates to answer voters' questions and to talk to voters online.
5.September 16 - 23, 2020 (by midnight), Voting period: Voters to vote for the next president online.
All the members of PKUAA-NE can register online at www.pkuaa-ne.org and vote one candidate for the next president.
In order to let the voters be familiar with the candidates, and to establish an interactive dialogue between them. Voters can submit questions in PKUAA-NE wechat groups to any or all the candidates during this period (certain time slots will be assigned for questionings, so that the candidates will not be overwhelmed). The questions can be any issues that voters are concerned about. Candidates should answer each question to their best ability and with total honesty. All the questions and answers will be visible to all the voters before they cast their votes. During this period, we encourage candidates to actively campaign, to approach voters, to answer voters' questions and concerns, and to help voters knowing them better.
The voting period will end on September 23, 2020, by midnight. There will be only one ballot. Candidate receiving the most votes will be elected. In case there is a tie for the first place, the candidates who tied will be the co-Presidents.
The result of the election of the next president of the Association will be announced at the PKUAA-NE annual meeting this fall.
We encourage talented, enthusiastic, energetic and experienced alumni to run for the president of PKUAA-NE. This is a great opportunity to serve our association and fellow alumni. We also welcome all the PKUAA-NE members to participate in this democratic process, by running for the president or nominating fellow alumni to run, and to vote for the best candidate for the next president of our association.
